Episode 42 - Rindsgulasch


  • 1kg Round Steak
  • 1kg Onions
  • 2 cloves of Garlic
  • 2 tbsp of Paprika
  • 2 tbsp of Tomato Paste
  • ½ cup of Strong Coffee
  • 2 tbsp of Water
  • ¼ cup of Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pinch of Margoram
  • ½ teaspoon of Caraway
  • 2 tbsp of Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of Beef Stock
  • 2 strips of Lemon peel


  1. Slice onions and garlic finely. Cut beef into cubes.
  2. Fry onions and garlic in oil until golden brown. Add paprika and stir, then add two tablespoons of water, then stir in the meat.
  3. Keep stirring until water has evaporated, then add tomato puree, salt, vinegar, margoram, caraway seeds, beef stock, coffee and cover with the lid.
  4. Simmer very gently until meat is tender. Add lemon peel and if necessary add small quantities of water.
  5. Serve with Parmesan Potatoes.
