Episode 51 - South African Chilli Bites

Serves 4 - 6


  • 1 cup Bessan (chick pea flour)
  • 1 cup Self Raising Flour
  • ΒΌ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 diced Onion
  • 3 Silverbeet leaves (washed, dried & chopped finely)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh Ginger grated


  1. Mix all ingredients until well combined.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or deep fryer then fry the dessert spoon fulls of the mixture in batches.
  3. Serve with mint yogurt dipping sauce (fresh mint, plain yogurt & salt) or sweet chilli sauce and garnish with fresh lemon wedges and coriander.
