Spaghetti with Clams

Episode 54 - Spaghetti with Clams


  • 1kg Clams
  • 500g Spaghetti Sauce:
  • 1 knob of Garlic (peeled & diced)
  • 1 large Onion
  • Olive Oil (½ cup)
  • 3 bottles Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup chopped Basil
  • ½ cup chopped Parsley
  • 1 Chilli (sliced)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste


  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan.
  2. Add onion & garlic and stir well.
  3. When the onion is transparent, add the tomato sauce & stir.
  4. Finally add the basil, parsley, chilli, salt & pepper and stir well.
  5. Bring to the boil, lower heat and simmer for about 1 to 1½ hours.
  6. While the sauce is cooking, place clams in a separate saucepan and steam until they all open up (discard any unopened clams).
  7. Drain all the liquid, then add a few scoops of the sauce into the clams & stir well.
  8. Boil spaghetti as per directions on the packet.
  9. Add sauce to the spaghetti and top with clams. Best served hot.
